Samara
As the Project Assistant, Samara supports project management across the Planet team. As the former Director of the University of Texas at Austin’s Campus Environmental Center (CEC), Samara brings her experience as a dedicated community organizer to her work with Planet.
Samara has conducted on-the-ground, qualitative research in Amsterdam, investigating the effectiveness of the Doughnut Model, a policymaking framework tool that prioritizes staying within ecological boundaries while providing societal needs equitably. Through this experience, she became highly interested in understanding how research can be used to improve real-world sustainability policy efforts.
Samara holds a BA in Sustainability Studies and English from the University of Texas at Austin. As a 2023 Marshall Scholar, Samara will pursue an MSc in Sustainability Planning and Environmental Policy at Cardiff University and then transition to the London School of Economics for an MSc degree in Environmental Economics and Climate Change. She enjoys attending stand-up comedy shows with friends, playing fetch with her dog-like cat and trying out new vegetarian recipes.
